The TigerSharks' base was a spaceship that could also function underwater. The members of the TigerShark team were humans who had to use a device called the Fish Tank in order to transform between human and powered-up marine forms.

This third series also featured many of the same voice actors who had worked on ThunderCats and SilverHawks including Larry Kenney, Peter Newman, Earl Hammond, Doug Preis and Bob McFadden. Rankin/Bass followed up their successful ThunderCats and SilverHawks series with this series about a team of powered up man/marine form hybrids called the "TigerSharks". However, no DVD or streaming release of the series has been available worldwide as of today. Animation currently owns the series, as they own the 1974–89 Rankin/Bass library, which was incorporated into the merger of Lorimar-Telepictures and Warner Bros. The animation was provided by Japanese studio Pacific Animation Corporation. The series lasted one season with 26 episodes and was part of the show The Comic Strip, which consisted of four animated shorts: TigerSharks, Street Frogs, The Mini-Monsters, and Karate Kat. The series involved a team of heroes that could transform into amalgams of human and marine animals and resembled the series ThunderCats and SilverHawks, also developed by Rankin/Bass.

To see a full list of characters, go here. Together, the TigerSharks battle the twin forces of evil, The Mantanas, below the sea, and Captain Bizarrly's crew, on land. Through the use of Doc Walro's invention, the Fish Tank, the TigerSharks are able to transform themselves into aquatic creatures which retain these superheroes' characteristics but which allow them to live and operate underwater.Īfter saving Lorca, they agree to help the Waterians save their planet. The TigerSharks include: Mako, their leader and an expert in underwater combat, Doc Walro, the most famous oceanogragher and explorer in the Universe, Octavia, the commander of the TigerShark' spacecraft, Dolph, the team's communications expert who is able to telepathically transmit and receive messages, Angel and Bronc, a brother-and-sister team which acts as the TigerSharks' scouts, and Gup, Doc Walro's pet. With their friend and colleague in mortal danger, the TigerSharks blast off from Earth determined to rescue him.

Led by the ferocious T-Ray, The Mantanas free the innocent Waterians' most fearsome enemy, Captain Bizarrly, and his pirate crew from their icy Seaberian prison and capture the TigerShark, Lorca. While Lorca, the TigerSharks' tough guy, is working a solo mission on Water-O, an ominous craft, The Mantana, blasts through Water-O's atmosphere and dives deep beneath the seas that form most of the planet. Unfortunately, since the series has never seen official release or even airing in the 1990s and on, there are episodes that are missing.
